The Dinosaur Family and the Cunning Anaconda

Once upon a time, in a deep jungle, there lived a family of Dinosaur - Mama Dino, Papa Dino and the Baby Dino.

There were such a happy family having a great bonding and happy times in the jungle. Their routine revolved around roaming around and finding food, taking long strolls around their home, playing with their baby dino, exploring new areas in the jungle together. During one such jungle expedition, the dino family decided to take a route which was forbidden by other animals. Reason being that the rest of the animals in the jungle believed that there lived a long, wicked and dangerous Anaconda on the far side of the land, on the only little hilltop, at the very end of it.

Being the adventurous and fearless family as they are known to be, the family decided to take a walk and see how much of truth lies in the famous jungle folklore belief about this piece of land. As they were walking into this neglected portion of the jungle, the dino family realized how rich the scenic beauty was, as they were dwelling deep into the land. They were awestruck with the lustrous beauty of many unknown grasses and trees which they were surrounded with. The baby dino was so ecstatic to see so much beauty in one place, that it kept itself ahead of its dad and mom and moved faster to catch the first glimpse of further beauty this land beholds. As the baby dino kept gazing here and there, it didn't notice the peril right ahead of him and the next moment it fell into a very deep and dark pit.

The father and mother dino, were shocked to see their baby slipping into a deep abyss, but it was too late. By the time they realized what happened and ran to help their kid, the baby dino was already into the bottom of the deepest pit they have ever come across.. So scared by the darkness and eerie silence surrounding it, the baby dino was so scared that it was weeping in desperation and crying out for help. The Father and Mother Dino, could only faintly hear the frantic cries of their little one, but were too helpless to bring him out, as the pit size wasn't big enough for either of the parent dino to enter. They looked around for any help, but found no one around them. They tried binding all the veins of various trees around them to form a rope, to send it down for their kids help, but in vain. Those vains weren't stronger enough and kept snapping every time they tied it up together.

As time passed, both the mother and father dino were loosing hope and didn't know what to do. Just as their hope was fading, they saw some movement at a distant bush. They noticed an old Fox approaching their way. When the fox came near them, the dino's narrated what happened and pleaded the fox for help. The old fox had no physical courage to help the dino, but it did show them a way. The fox said "Mr and Mrs. Dino, am sorry to hear about your kid. No animals come to this forbidden area of this Jungle. So the only way you can get your kid out is to approach the Anaconda residing on the hilltop at the far end of this land. But I warn you, The Anaconda is very cunning. She can be dangerous too. There is no guarantee that she may help. You can end up being her prey. So you may be risking your lives as well if you go approach her". Saying so, the fox left them alone and went back to his home inside the bush.

Hearing this the Mother dino said with conviction, "Thanks to Mr. Fox, for letting us know there is a way to help my baby out. I am ready to face any danger to help him out. I will approach the Anaconda myself". Hearing her, father dino told her worriedly, "Mother Dino, I am not happy to hear this. From what Mr.Fox says, The Anaconda sounds very dangerous to me. You might get killed too. I am on the verge of loosing my son. Maybe this is our destiny. But because of him, I cannot loose you too. Please don't go". But the Mother dino was determined to get back her son, she asked the Father Dino to be there and keep talking to her son to give him confidence and then headed straight to the hilltop.

On the top of the hill, amidst lots of bones and skeletons of many animals, which seem to have been demonically devoured, was laying the dark ominously looking Anaconda with his fangs put out, waiting greedily for another kill. Even though the Mother Anaconda was scared seeing such gigantic and menacing Anaconda, it put up a brave face and approached it and told the evil Snake. "Hello Mr. Anaconda, I am Mrs. Dino, I am here to ask you for an help. My little boy has fallen into that deep pit on the forbidden land and I understand only you are capable of saving him. Please help me and I shall give you whatever you ask for, in return". Looking at the unfazed Mother Dino, the Anaconda eyed her greedily and said "Oh! Mother Dino, hitherto no one has approached me for any favours, as every animal in this jungle is scared just at the sight of me. Since you are the first animal to ask my help, I will help you. But in return of your son's life, I need your life for me. I have tasted so many animals in this jungle, but never had a chance to relish a Dino. So you will be my first Dino treat. If you agree to that, I will save your son".

Hearing what the Anaconda said, the Mother Dino was shocked first. She didn't expect her life in exchange of her son. Even though it was a sad thought to think that her son had to live the rest of his life without her, she was happy to think that at least he would be able to live. If she doesn't agree to this deal, she was sure that she will loose her son very soon. So she readily agreed and promised the Anaconda that the moment he gets her son out of the pit, she will willingly follow him to the hilltop to be his prey, leaving her family behind. The Anaconda was overjoyed to hear this and happily came with the mother dino to help her out.

Soon the Anaconda and the mother dino reached the pit. The Father Dino was so much relieved to see the ray of hope to save his son. He thought once their son is out, they can continue being the happy family again, not aware of the other tragedy laying ahead of him. Since the pit was so deep and only the Anaconda could reach the bottom of it, it started its descent into the ground. In no time, it touched the bottom and saw the scared and tired baby dino coiled at the corner, crying silently with all the hopes of being rescued gone. When the baby dino spotted the Anaconda, it got so scared first thinking that he is going to be killed by the deadly snake now. When the Anaconda told him that he has come down to save him as a request from his mother, the baby dino was elated. It couldn't believe its luck of being saved by the deadly Anaconda which all other animals dreaded in the jungle. The Anaconda asked the baby dino to mount on his back and started his ascend to the top.

The baby dino feeling very grateful, spoke to the Anaconda. "Mr Anaconda, am so grateful to you for this help. I never thought I can make it back to my family. Now I feel so relieved and happy. I can go back to my dad and mom. Live, play and be happy with them like I have been before. Thank you for this. Our family will never forget you and your help forever. Once I reach up, I will ask my mom, who is a great cook, to treat you with our special delicacies". Hearing this the Anaconda started laughing loudly.  Not understanding the baby dino asked what is so funny that made the Anaconda laugh so much. To that the Anaconda replied "On my naive boy! haven't you ever heard of my reputation in the jungle. Am I known to be that generous...NEVER.....I am helping you now, because I am going to be treated by your mom, not with delicacies, but by herself. She has agreed to be my Prey. Once you are up, I am going to devour her, she will be my first Dino meal. It's sad that you and your father need to live without her. But that is the deal, my little boy. Your mom saves your life giving hers..HA....so sacrificing....yah..yah.....the Motherhood thing....dingy"....

Hearing what he said, the baby dino was sooo shocked. It didn't expect this kind of an answer. The cunning Anaconda had used this opportunity to claim its prey. As they were nearly the pit top, the baby dino, realized how close it is coming to loosing its mother. It didn't want a life without its mother and he decided that he would do anything to save his mother, like how his mother is willing to do anything to save his life. It's mind was racing on what to do to save its mom. Soon enough, the Anaconda reached the pit top and the Baby Dino could see its mother and father waiting near it, with anxious faces. No sooner as it reached the pit top, the Baby Dino jumped out of the Anaconda back to the ground, quickly turned around and with all its might, gave a strong kick on the Anaconda face. Totally unexpected, the Anaconda was jostled strongly by this attacked, and lost his grip and went down flying back to the pit bottom screaming. Realizing what was happening, both the mother and father dino and the Anaconda was shocked.

Mother Dino yelled at the Baby Dino, "Baby, What have you done? you are hurting someone who just saved your life. This is an ungrateful act!". Hearing her, the baby dino said,"Mom, please no time for sermons. I know what the Anaconda is going to do to you. It is not fair. Dad and I need you. Saving me is meaningless at the cost of your life. Stop talking and just do as I say", saying this, the Baby Dino looked around. As this dense land was covered with many rocks and trees, the baby dino ran to the nearest rocks and started picking up few big stones on them and ran back to the pit and started dropping them one by one, very fastly. Initially startled, the father Dino understood what transpired between his wife and the Anaconda and saw his only chance of saving his wife was to join his son. So he too ran quickly and picked up big rocks and stones and started putting them inside the pit. The angry anaconda which was now very furious and insulted, started coming up with more anger and vengeance deciding to kill the entire family. As he was midway climbing up, he was surprised to see lots of stones descending on his head. Even though mightier, he was no match for the storm of stones and rocks being hurdled on him. With every stone hitting at him, he was slipping away and fell back to the bottom of the pit. He was screaming of pain and agony, slowly the screams mellowed down and the stone and rocks rubbles piled on him covering him up gradually and completely.

The Mother Dino was stunned and was standing like a statue witnessing the scenes in front of her. It was only when she saw the pit completely covered with rocks and stones, that she came to her senses and realized that she is safe at last. Tears trickled down her face and she silently sobbed. The Father and Baby Dino came close to her and hugged her and the Father Dino said to her, "You are safe now. We will live happily as a family again". She opened her mouth to say something, but the father dino put his finger on her lips and said "Sssshhhh....Sometimes being unfair is fair, for the sake of family". The baby dino upon hearing this, nodded his head and hugged his mother. The Father too hugged the Mother dino. At that very moment, the mother dino felt that the father dino was right. She wiped her tears away and all three held their hands in  hand and walked away silently from the forbidden land vowing to themselves that they  will never come here again.

The Old Fox from his bush, was watching  the dino's walking away silently and turned his gaze to the closed pit and for the first time in many years, smiled to himself, thinking that this place will not be forbidden anymore....

The Story of the Jingle Bells

Once upon a time, on a Christmas tree, there lived happily a family of Jingle Bells - Father Bell, Mother Bell, Brother Bell, Sister Bell and a Baby Bell. They were all soo happy to live together in a same tree and rejoiced each others company by making sweet and melodious noise and twinkling all the time.

One day, a naughty boy, named Jackie, visited the Christmas tree. He was fascinated by the grandeur of the Christmas Tree and was observing all the nice tinkling, twining and shining decorations on the tree. His attention suddenly went to the set of Jingle bells, looking alike, but varying in sizes. Being inquisitive and naughty by nature, Jackie was curious to see the bells and decided to look at them more closely. So he first picked up the Baby Jingle Bell.

The Baby Jingle Bell, who was basking under the comfort of this family side by side, when suddenly removed from the tree was taken aback. The brother, sister, mother and father jingle bells too were shocked to see the baby bell in the hands of a stranger, but were totally helpless as they could do nothing about it. Jackie kept throwing the Jingle bell up and down and tried shaking the baby bell to see what sound it makes. So upset with being separated from its family, the baby bells, refused to make any noise. So how much ever Jackie tried hard to shake and bring out the noise of the baby bell, the baby bell just didn't budge but kept quite. So bored to see the baby bell not making any noise, Jackie lost interest on it. So he kept the baby bell back on the tree and decided to test the brother bell and pulled it out.

The Brother bell who was already upset seeing his baby brother taken away, was only more upset and shocked when it released that the naughty boy has replaced him for his brother in his hands. So helpless as his baby brother, the brother jingle bell too couldn't to do much but to stop making any sound when Jackie tried to shake him. Jackie was disappointed with this bell too, so he decided to replace him with the sister jingle bell.

When the sister jingle bell was taken away from the tree, she too felt very miserable and behaved the same way as her brothers. Jackie this was quite irritated and disappointed to see that all the three jingle bells aren't making any noise. He was getting impatient too. Then he laid his eyes on the big Mother Jingle bell, bigger and more attractive in size, Jackie felt that she might at-least would make some noise. So kept the sister bell back and picked up the Mother Jingle bell.

The Mother Jingle bell was so emotional seeing her children being whisked away one after the other by the mischevious boy. Now when her turn came up, she was like a full emotional baggage ready to explode. So when Jackie picked her up and tried shaking her to see whether she is making any noise, the Mother Jell not just made a noise, but she made a big sobbing wail, which was so unbearable to hear. Jackie could not bear the terrible (crying) sound that the Mother Bell was making, so he kept back the Mother bell back to the tree. Now almost restless and still a bit of curiosity lingering in him, Jack thought he would finally check on the father Bell.

The Father Jingle Bell, who was silently watching all the spectacle-- unfolding in front of him, was it a fit of rage and anger on Jackie for making each of his family member cry. He was waiting for the most opportune moment to reprimand Jackie for his misdeeds. So when Jackie picked him up after putting back Mother Jingle Bell back on the tree, the Father Jingle Bell was waiting for the moment when Jackie would shake him to hear his sound. When Jack did that, the Father Jingle Bell, it all his might, made huge thunderous noise that Jackie ears hurt a lot and out of the sheer rudeness in the bell sound, he dropped the bell from his hand. The Father Jingle bell, came down with all his might and dropped himself very hard on Jackie's feet. Crying in pain, Jackie picked up the heavy Father Jingle Bell and put him back on the tree and ran home, vowing not to come back to the Christmas tree at all.

Seeing Jackie running so fast to his home, all the jingle bells felt very happy to be united again in the tree and lived happily ever after without any interference.

Kids Story Index

Phewwww..... Certain things seems easy said than done..

Few days back I have been thinking, that I should take my writings more serious and start dedicating time for it on a regular basis, but it doesn't seem that simple for me, as I have embroiled myself into the same routine of kids care-home care-kids care-home care.....into the same visious loop again.... but today I decided that I will break myself from that routine and sit to do something on what I committed myself to do few days ago... start writing, particularly, kids stories which I have been creating and telling my toddlers for numerous times. It's easier to pick up writing theme which is so familiar and easy for me than something that I have lost in touch, and might find difficult to start with (initial writing hiccups).

This is the place one can come to look for list of kids stories in my blog. This will be an Index page of kids stories, with their links and story name for easy access and navigation.

So, here's for my readers, the list of Interesting and Silly Kids Stories, which would sure be a good time pass for everyone. Happy Reading fellas....

Is it End of my Sabbatical???

I can't believe its happening...I have come back to this space after many many many years....after a lonnnnngggggg Sabbatical.

It seems to me now...today.....like its time for my Sabbatical from writing has come to an end, finally.... although I though it never would. It has been years...really many years, since I have forgotten about this space, which I had created (which seems like another bygone era) for the sake of pursuing my writing interests when it was at its peak, those many years ago...slowly, the mundane life routines and priorities took over, first office work pressure, and then family especially Motherhood- my kids (who consume all my time even now) and finally the biggest obstacle - loss of interest due to lack of time... all of these have made my passion for writing take the farthest back seat possible, even better, chased my passion away from my mind.

Well, I can make umpteen excuses, blame many personal circumstances, for not pursuing what was once my dream, but those are all just a reason to convince myself that It's all OK for me to not pursue, let alone achieve, my dream, for the usual and monotonous way of life.  I have always fancied and admired those women who are achievers (in any small or big way - they have made a difference from all the others), have proved to the world, that your dreams can come true, if you really work for it. But admiring other achievers alone will not help you to reach out to the place where you want to be. There has  to be first vision, second dedication and commitment, above all hard work to achieve what you want in life. Not to mention, the many hurdles and challenges one has to endure on their way to Success. My passion (Writing) was always on something which was very much accessible for me, even amidst of my day to day life. To achieve it, I needn't sweat myself in the hot sun, I don't need to travel across the globe, I don't need to sacrifice family time in a big way, In fact I don't  need to do anything out of the ordinary. All it requires is few minutes or hours on a regular basis to just sit in one place and start writing. Regular routine and practice of writing, will definitely help me improve and pursue what I want.

My dream to become an Author (at least start as an ameture Writer) has been thrawted by my own inabilities and inconsistencies. It's time to say Good bye to this Sabbatical where I have gone into a self lazy and self excuse mode for a long time. Over the years, I am able to see through clearly, running a family always takes our substantial time, but those achievers out there, too have had families and taken care of their little one's and at the same time, struggled and worked hard  PARALLELY to make their dreams come true. Time is in abundance for achievers, but an excuse for losers. This is what I feel offlate. I can probably spare minimum half an hour on a regular basis to sit and write whatever I have in mind. Need not be a meaningful post. Let's say Speaking my Mind Out through words. Some scribblings and ramblings can still contribute to my dream of writing , keep my passion of writing in tact.

So, Now I have decided, its time to end my sabbatical from writing, and come back to work on what was once my dream. If writing again, can ignite and rekindle my passion more, then its worth starting the second innings, even though I have lost touch with it for a long time..

But this time,  I need to remind myself time and again , that this space is solely for the purpose of my self satisfaction and not for the endorsement of others to accept me and my writings. So I have decided to just write...write...write...regularly for my own self. It can be anything - a story, a review, senseless scribbling, random thoughts, sharing experience etc etc...and now that my world has so reduced to attending to my tiny tots all the time, the best area where I thought I can start off, comfortably, without the big break coming its way, to crumble my confidence to get back, would be to translate all the bed time stories, which I have been narrating to my kids, based on their random choices (My girls ask for weird combo stories like tell me story of a tiger & mongoose, Gorilla & Monster, Lion & Porcupine, Giraffe & Mouse and Bingo, within seconds I would have made a silly story out of the random combo and start my narration) . These extempore stories have always made them very happy upon hearing. So to begin with, starting to write story for kids, I think will make me feel more relaxed and free and hope to give me that confidence to write (which I feel I have lost completely).

With a sense of euphoria, am happy to end this sabbatical from writing and start afresh again.... I am wishing myself loads to keep me going.

Good luck to me... Good luck for lots of self motivation to me...Good luck for lots of Perseverene to me...

The mantra am going to keep chanting and repeat to myself from now on would be... "Keep Going, Don't give up this time" :)
